Carpe corpus

In the small town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace, until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants, the living and undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having had such a taste of power?

I started reading this book and there was only three words that formed on my lips What the hell? I really wanted Shane and Claire to be together,I really wanted Amelie the amazing bad ass vamp to show her self and above it all I really wanted Myrnin to not be an evil good for nothing traitor. So for the first part of the book I was as glum as the day is long but i defiantly grew my respect for the evil vamp Bishop, who probably could of wrote the rule book on torture. Once this book starts going though you are so happy that you didn't put it down and walk away as you learn the resistance has claws way to deep into Bishop. I actually cried when I got to the end as one of my much loved characters dies and the reprocutions are enormous on Morganville, all i am going to say is she finally admits it but its is too late all she got was a smile. I cried a river :'( .
Another great book in a series I love so much.

Lord of misrule

Morganville, Texas. Just south of normal
In the college town of Morganville, vampires and human coexist in (relative) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, a master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the focus of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn't the only threat. Violent black clouds promise a storm of devastating proportions. As student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against the elements, both natural and unnatural, the unexplained happens: Morganville's vampires begin to vanish one by one. Discovering why leads Claire to one last choice: swear allegiance to Bishop... or die.

I truly am beginning to love this book series so much! Once again the whole world seems to be unravaling around Claire but what is even weirder is that all vampires seem to be united in taking down the big bad Bishop. I think the beginning where the whole town is burning and you now right then that the war has started is beautifully written. The whole book it refers to a game of chess, you have the pawns who you would willingly sacrifice, the queen who fights for what she believes in, the kings who they are protecting, the knights who do their bidding. I did not see the ending at all yet when you look back there are loads of little clues leading up to it but you are willing to turn a blind eye because you don't want to believe it. Even with the ending I love Myrnin and I really don't think anyone can change that even you Immi, by the way thanks for my Myrnin bracelet! My only question is now how can she top it?

Feast of fools

It was hard to imagine how Clarie's day could get any worse...
And then the vampire holding her hostage asked for breakfast.
In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans have learnt to live together in relative peace. Still Claire Danvers knows that after dark, her homework can take a back seat to staying alive. But this tenuous harmony is turned on its head with the arrival of Mr Bishop.
Bad to the bone, the ancient old-school vampire cares nothing about keeping the peace; staying at the top of the food chain is enough. What he wants from the town's living and dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball attended by vampires and their human dates that Clarie realises that Bishop's plan - and the elaborate evil trap he's set for the warm blooded souls of Morganville...

I officially love this series!!! From the first line you are instantly hooked into the book and it doesn't let you go until you have done or are forced to put it down. My mother literally had to claw it out of my hands so I would eat. Some people may say that that is so sad but hey thats my life! Bishop was a welcome evil addition to the series you could imagine him taking over the world and people would be to scared to do anything. Oliver and Amelie put aside there differences to get rid of Amelie's dad, Bishop, and stop him from hurting anyone else. Shane and Clarie's relationship grows drastically in this book but i don't know if there relationship can weather many more storms. My only negative thing about it was there wasn't enough Myrnin, he is by far my favorite charecter. Myrnin and Amelie are by far my two favorite charecters call we weird all you want but i really respect them both and they both have there quirky sides. So all in all an amazing book series great author and once again a cliff hanger and a half of an ending. Rachel Caine is officially trying to kill me with suspense!

Midnight ally

Morganville is such a nice place to live...
And die. If you don't mind that sort of thing.
When  Clarie Danvers learnt that her college was run by vampires, she did what any intelligent, self preserving student would do: she applied for a transfer and stocked up on garlic. The transfer is no longer an option, but the garlic may come in handy.
Now Clarie has pledged herself to Amelie, the most powerful vampire in town. The protection her contracts secures does little to reassure her friends. All of a sudden people are turning up dead, a stalker resurfaces from Clarie's past, and an ancient bloodsucker extends a chilling invitation for private lessons in his secluded home.

I have to start this review by thanking one of my best friends immi for lending me this series and basically every book i read. I loved this book and although some parts of it where predictable other parts just blow your mind away and makes you think how did i not see that coming? My favorite charecter has got to be Myrnin the eccentric old vampire who i think is bordering on being a psychopath but i think that just make me love him more it defiantly adds to his quirky personality. The main charecter Clarie defiantly grows in this novel and yes she still has along way till she comes out of her shell but she defiantly grows. I think it may have to do with the imminent danger she always seems to be in. All in all it had a great plot, killer characters (no pun intended),  expected and unexpected twists and a cliff hanger which has you literally screaming at the book as if it could give you the answers you seek, or maybe i am just way over dramatic.

Strange angels

Dru's not afraid of the things that go bump in the night but she should be...
Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called "the touch." (Comes in handy when you're traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.) Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she's next. Even worse, she's got two guys hungry for her affections, and they're not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whoever—or whatever— is hunting her?
Dru lives a life devoted to killing the things that go bump in the night but what happens when just once things backfire and her dad comes back as a zombie who was told by its maker to find and retrieve her?  Dru tries to carry on as normal until she can contact someone but normal isn't a word i would use to describe her life as things begin to spiral out of control and leading her into a very dangerous experience with several things that go bump in the night. This book made me emphasis with Dru and what she is going through, I loved how she was really like a normal girl her age under her tough shell she cries several times through the book which anyone would do if there life was spiraling out of control around them. Yet her witty remarks and loyalty make her someone who if you crossed her you would have to rue the consequences. One of my favorite books!

The dead girls dance

Good news girls: your dates are here!
Bad news girls: they are dead!
Clarie Danvers has had her fair share of challenges- Like being a genius in a school that favours beauty over brains, dealing with the homicidal girls in her dorm room and, above all finding out that her college town is overrun with blood sucking fiends. On the plus side, so far Claire and her friends have survived getting on the wrong side of some Morganville VIP's... Vampire Important Persons. But their temporary peace is in danger of collapsing, thanks to the arrival of her new boyfriends scary father and his vampire fighting supporters,

This book follows on after the events of Glass houses the first book. Shane's dad has shown up and at the begging it looks like even Amelie's protection wont be enough to save them. I picked up this book and started reading straight away because of the unbelievable cliff hanger the last book left you on  I mean was Rachel Caine trying to kill us with suspense? This book was a worthy follow up to Glass houses and once again I was left screaming noooooo! There is always something happening To Claire in this book, if it isn't a mysterious person from Eve's path raising hell, then she is stuck in the middle of a political game between Amelie and Oliver, or even hiding from her new boyfriends dad. Who said life in Morganville was boring?

The hunger games

 Winning will make you famous.
 Losing means certain death.
In a dark vision of the future a terrifying reality TV show is taking place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called the hunger games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed.
When sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sisters place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her survival is second nature.

The hunger games is a book you just don't put down until it is finished the constant suspense makes it impossible. A very long time ago there was a rebellion against the capitol which the capitol stops and as punishment they create the hunger games to keep the districts inline. Katniss has to look after her family after her father dies and that includes taking her sisters place in the abomination which is the hunger games along with a acquittance called Peta.  They meet a past winner called Haymitch Abernathy who helps them to win no mater what, he has got to be my favorite charecter due to his personality.
I loved this book and i found it really easy to sympathies and feel for most of the characters like any other book there are characters you are supposed to hate and those characters you grow to hate with a passion. The journey this book takes you through is one i can assure you, you will never forget.
